Introduction

As your therapist I commit to holding a safe space for you to explore some of the most difficult topics in your life. Therapy should feel like a conversation where you are able to speak freely and without judgement. We will work on the goals of therapy together, identifying stuck places in your life and things that you would like to change. I use a combination of interventions and will walk you through the different types of action steps. We will analyze the usefulness of different tools together because therapy is not a one-size-fits-all service. My primary goal during our first meeting is to understand the reasons for you seeking therapy at this moment in time. Why now? Why not one year ago? What has held you back from seeking therapy in the past? But I also want to understand your story- how did we get to this point? How have your past experiences influenced how you are dealing with your current struggles? By joining me in therapy, we become a team. We will work together to analyze, intervene then assess the progress together. We will work on sharpening your skills to manage problems as they come up. I recommend weekly meetings where consistency helps us to get to know each other and build trust so that we can tackle the more challenging problems. I draw from evidence-based interventions; primarily Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction techniques. I use a whole-person mindset with the belief that mind and body are connected and we must look at the person within their environment to fully understand the problem. Let me help you work through this life, transition, help you better manage your anxiety, weigh the pros and cons of that big decision, feel more confident in yourself, improve the communication with your coworkers, understand your complex feelings after the death of a loved one. We can figure it out together.
