Hi there! My name is Jessica Berg, and I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have been married to my loving husband for sixteen years and we have been together for nineteen years. We have two beautiful and intelligent daughters whom we adore and spend a majority of our free time with! We also recently added a new yellow Labrador puppy named Luna to our family, whom we all love immensely! I love to be out in nature with animals and enjoying/exploring God's amazing world with my family. I also enjoy yoga, working out, reading, writing, singing, dancing, sports, and time in God's word and in prayer with Him, daily. I have been practicing counseling now for nineteen years, five of those were in public mental health and the last fourteen years I have been in private practice. I knew as a young child that I wanted to help people be happy and live the best life that they could, that Jesus died to give them. I was a natural helper in junior high school and went on to pursue a psychology degree in college. I then went on to graduate school and received a Master of Arts in counseling psychology. I have a heart for helping people find who God truly made them to be, and to help heal those deep wounds that we all experience along the way. I specialize in using a Christian-centered approach to my sessions, along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I often use personalized journaling, deep-breathing and relaxation techniques, reading material recommendations, and prayer/Bible plans as tools to help my clients succeed on their journey towards healing. I typically treat clients that suffer from anxiety, depression, eating disorders, spiritual struggles, boundary issues, relationship problems, bullying, women's issues, and teen issues. I have begun to do a lot of work with Highly Sensitive Personalities or HSP's in the last six to seven years, as I discovered in my mid 30's, that I am an HSP, as is my oldest daughter. This is not a disorder, but a personality trait, that is just the beautiful way that God made us. I am happy to counsel and give insight into this topic, for those who are searching for answers about themselves in this area. There is a lot of research in this area and books on this topic, that I can recommend, as well as a quiz for adults and kids to see if you are in fact, highly sensitive! I believe that my services provide lasting change for my clients. I teach them healthy coping skills and techniques, so that when they are ready to be done with counseling and doing well, they can go out into the world and be the best version of themselves that God had in mind for them to be.
