Jason Benton, CRNP, CST-T, CPHom Are you looking for more options or a different approach to mental health care? I offer a variety of approaches aimed to help you reach your potential. Over the last 20 years working in mental health care, I have learned that nothing is more powerful or effective toward healing and recovery than what is found within the unique qualities of an individual and their own healing capacity. Psychiatric medications can be life-saving and alleviate suffering, yet also come with immediate and/or long-term risks. Overall, when prescribing, I aim to find a balance which allows the possibility for each person to attain personal growth, vitality, and autonomy. I take the time to listen, and place my client's values and goals first. I can help those who are looking to reduce side effects, find more suitable medication options, or avoid the risks of conventional meds altogether if that is your goal. One thing psychiatric medication does not directly do, however, is improve resiliency and inner vitality. This is why I offer two unique forms of healthcare which do, and both are compatible with most conventional psychiatric treatments. Being stressed, sick, depressed or anxious for a long time can erode our inner sources of vitality, making it a long and arduous task to attain not just former levels of health, but new levels of resiliency. I am always amazed and humbled by the ability of homeopathy and CranioSacral therapy (CST) to help access these inherent forces of healing and development, whether to overcome severe or chronic illness or every day colds, flus, and injuries. Furthermore, I enjoy watching how these methods can allow one to not only be free of illness, dysfunction, or deep emotional pain, but to grow and develop as a whole, compassionate human being. Often such experiences lead to an unexpected path toward self-discovery and even spiritual development. Homeopathy is a holistic form of health care which is empirically-based and evidence-based. It is compatible with most other medicines and modalities. Homeopathy uses uniquely-prepared medicines which are prescribed based on a holistic, individualized approach, and target the deepest, most vital level of illness. Homeopathy can help to alleviate present symptoms, but also end chronic patterns of dysfunction. Homeopathic medicines work by stimulating natural processes of healing and are used to treat humans, animals, and plants. CranioSacral therapy (CST) is a gentle touch/manual therapy based on osteopathic manipulation techniques. CST can help a wide variety of mental, emotional, and physical problems. It is focused on the nervous system and its connections to the body and mind. By releasing bio-mechanical tension, enhancing fluid and energy flow and balance, and optimizing the nervous system, the entire human being can successfully process and integrate the effects of trauma and improve overall function. Such bodywork can fill the gaps where other mental health or psychiatric treatments literally do not touch. I'm also offering psychotherapy. I incorporate elements of CST and SomatoEmotional processes into therapy, whether you choose to utilize time on the table with hands-on bodywork or not. I'm currently collaborating with ABMST (https://www.abmst.org/) as the Mind Arena Head where were are working together to integrate the best elements of bodywork, psychotherapies, and spiritual practices into an embodied therapy. Email or call me for a brief consult and I will be happy to answer any questions you might have. Meaningful change happens at the mind-body intersect, where profound, lasting change and healing can occur. I offer a compassionate and collaborative approach, integrating Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing®, and Internal Family Systems-Informed (IFS) approaches to therapy. When I started as a therapist in 2006, I used a cognitive approach to therapy, but after a couple of years with such techniques I realized it was insufficient for many of my clients, particularly those with complex trauma. While it was helpful and supportive, my clients weren't able to reach the root causes of their problems nor could they attain deep healing or further development. Despite their hard work in therapy, we found ourselves going in circles. I found that by combining EMDR, along with IFS-Informed parts work and other somatic-based approaches, my clients were engaged on a more holistic level, reconnecting with their body and true self. Such methods allow individuals to reconnect with themselves and others, opening a path to previously unknown possibilities. Such healing is about reunifying what was once necessarily fragmented in order to survive. Jess earned her MSW in 2006 from Salem State University. Jess is a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and EMDRIA Certified Therapist and Consultant. Jess also offers trauma consultation for therapists. She specializes in helping therapists integrate treatment approaches and modify the EMDR Standard Protocol for complex attachment trauma and dissociation. Jess offers virtual therapy at this time.
