I chose "solstice" as my practice name out of my appreciation for the complexity of duality of life - in this case: light and dark. Solstice occurs twice a year, at which the sun reaches its maximum or minimum declination - it is marked by the longest and shortest days (or the longest and shortest nights). My hope is that my practice provides a space of refuge and rest when the night feels long/tiring/overwhelming. My hope is also that I can lean in with each of my clients to grow curious and open in each season of darkness. Barbara Brown Taylor says “… new life starts in the dark. Whether it is a seed in the ground, a baby in the womb…”. I have found that light and dark can coexist and aim to help you honor the light within you when you feel darkness is all around you, as well as trust that there is opportunity for new life even when we cannot see it. I am convinced that there is incredible opportunity for healing in experiencing genuine, authentic relationships. Struggles related to life transitions, conflict management, grief, trauma, sexuality/gender identity, spirituality (whether it involve church hurt, spiritual trauma, deconstruction/reconstruction, and/or deidentification of faith) might be weighing on you. My role is to come alongside you and help shed light on how past relationships and experiences have informed the way you currently relate to yourself, others, and to the world. I utilize a holistic approach and enjoy incorporating all facets of health and wellness into your care. I draw from a variety of approaches, including IFS, EFT, Somatic Experiencing/Embodiment Practices, and attachment-based psychodynamic therapy. It isn't always easy to reach out for help or to articulate the depth of your emotions. I provide a collaborative, relational approach to therapy to help you reach your desired therapeutic goals.
