Many clients are unsure what they want to accomplish going into counseling, only that they need help or have a problem that needs solved. That problem may be difficulty coping with life, healing from broken relationships, a loss, processing traumatic events, or a struggle they cannot seem to overcome. Some clients, even though they seek a pastoral counselor, are struggling with their faith and may be experiencing what is called a 'crisis of faith.' I specialize in complex trauma, dysfunctional family roles (specifically the scapegoat role), and relationship boundary issues. The space I like to create with clients is one of warmth, compassion, empathy, and one of non-judgment. It's important that I am able to connect with my clients to fully understand where they are coming from. I like to walk alongside my clients as we work together to accomplish their goals so that they are able to walk away with the tools to live a healthy and fulfilled life. I tailor my approach to meet the client right where they are and use the methods that make most sense to them.
