I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed School Counselor. My training I received is through Bowling Green State University (BA in Sociology, minor in Environmental Policy), Wright State University (certificate in Elementary Education) and University of Dayton (MS in Education and Allied Professions for School Counseling and a certificate in Mental Health Counseling). I have worked with adolescents and families in a school setting for 26 years and am enjoying continuing that work along with seeing clients in a clinical setting. Dylan Gillis, LPCC-S, is my clinical supervisor. I enjoy working with a variety of clients from adolescents to adults and couples. Some of my areas of specialities include anxiety, trauma, stress management, depression, self-esteem/self-concept, career exploration and navigating life transitions whether it is a change in family dynamics, career change or another life event which causes discomfort. My clinical approach is eclectic and is client centered. I believe in the counseling relationship of client and therapist and can assist in guiding the client to discover ways to feel their best self. My office is a non-judgemental area where clients are free to openly work through the difficult and learn strategies and tools to overcome and process the hard. I use clinical approaches from cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and internal family systems. I am also EMDR trained which is an approach to help clients process trauma, anxiety, among other things. Upon request, I can also provide a Christian perspective to counseling. Therapy is for all and all are welcome no matter your life path or perspective. In my free time, I enjoy taking in the outdoors through walking/hiking, leisurely biking, and kayaking. Some of my favorite things involve spending time with my husband and four kids and our family dog.
