Introduction

Thank you for being brave and for taking the first step to making a positive change in your life or your child’s life. Finding a therapist is not an easy task and can be very overwhelming. The relationship between a therapist and her client is vital for counseling to be effective. You or your child are faced with many obstacles on a daily basis and throughout life. In many cases, you or your child may feel stuck and do not know how to handle situations that may arise. In this case, you or your child have an empty “toolbox”. When clients come to therapy sessions with an empty “toolbox”, I offer strategies or “tools” that can be used to fill their “toolbox”. Over time and several therapy sessions, clients will begin to have many “tools” that they can utilize outside of my office and in the real world to help them feel and be successful. I meet with clients that face struggles, such as anxiety, relationship concerns, stress, grief, etc. Grief is a process and handled by clients in different ways. Grief and loss can also occur, not only with the passing of a loved one, but when clients are faced with a life altering health diagnosis. Clients can often experience the loss of one’s self and grieve the person that they once were before their diagnosis. Clients may also not have the “tools” to navigate their new normal or survivorship. As a therapist, it is vital that I help clients that are feeling this way and offer guidance and support during this difficult time. I started my career in the helping profession as an elementary school teacher. I wanted to help others more, so I completed my Master of Education in Counseling: Licensed Professional Counselor and School Counselor. I have served as a school counselor in the public and private education sector where I counseled children of various ages and interacted with parents frequently. In addition, I volunteered and provided counseling services to children that were grieving the loss of a loved one. Thank you for taking time out of your busy day getting to know me. Now, I want to know more about you or your child. Therapy does not need to be scary and I will hold you or your child’s hand every step of the way.
