Hi! I’m Jen and I’m a licensed psychotherapist in the Commonwealth of Virginia. I grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, which is also where I obtained my Bachelors degree in Psychology from the Lebanese American University. I later moved to the United States, and pursued my Masters and Ed.S. degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at James Madison University. Being an immigrant myself has given me a unique perspective on what it’s like to go through life transitions that are challenging, unpredictable, and just downright exhausting. I have been immersed in the mental health field since early adulthood, during which I have gained experience in working with various populations, including college students, immigrants, forensically-involved individuals, survivors of trauma and abuse, as well as people with Serious and Persistent Mental Illness. I believe that having this diverse background in the field has given me the ability to empathetically connect with clients by utilizing an integrative approach to psychotherapy, instead of a one-size-fits-all method. In other words, I always strive to meet my clients where they are, instead of make assumptions about their needs. I specialize in treating Anxiety and Mood Disorders (Depression and Bipolar), as well as providing treatment to survivors of traumatic experiences. I utilize a trauma-informed Integrative Approach to treatment, by deriving techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered approaches. I provide psychotherapy in both, English and Arabic.
