I am a licensed psychologist who specializes in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as well as mindfulness and other evidence-based treatments such as exposure therapy for trauma and other anxiety disorders. I have created a private practice to pursue my first passion, psychotherapy. Previously I worked both in Veteran's Affairs hospitals and as faculty at Duke University, where I conducted research on psychotherapeutic approaches to help adults overcome chronic or complex health issues and racism and discrimination. I enjoy working with a range of adult clients, particularly those who experience additional distress related to identity (such as LGBTQIA+ and Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), health status, ability/disability, and aging. I conduct therapy in English but work well with native Spanish speakers or those for whom English is a second language. My passion is to really listen and learn from each person, and I strive to live in line with my values of being authentic, kind, and empowering.
