Do you ever feel like the past is dragging around behind you, making it hard to move forward? While the past may shape you, it does not have to define you. Everything that has happened in the past helps to create who you are, but you have the power to create who you will be. Getting through past traumas, whether they be big or small, can be a daunting task. As you navigate the various paths available to you in life, I can help you create your own map. Depression, anxiety, trouble adjusting to new life circumstances, and grief can all feel like stones in a backpack that drags you down. I can help you lighten the load. Using evidence-based techniques, I can help you learn tools to make anxiety and depression smaller and more manageable. All too often, we think “I can handle this” or “I got this”, when in reality we need help to handle this. The strongest thing a person can say is “I need help.” Growing up in a rural area has given me experience with accepting help. My own life experiences have shaped me, just like yours have shaped you. When you are lost in the forest, a signpost can help you find your way. Let me use my training and experience to be that signpost for you. A bit about me. I am married to a wonderful man and have no kids, but 2 dogs who keep me on my toes. I love to read, and indulge I that whenever I can. Growing up in a very small rural town gave me a real world understanding of just how interconnected we all are. I truly believe that the mind and body are both required for health. I see life as something that can be either endured or enjoyed, and I love to work with people to help them enjoy it as much as they can. The safety of counseling, a place where it is safe to work through your emotions and thoughts, is such a powerful thing and I understand that the safety must come with privacy.
