*Accepting new clients* Choosing to seek counseling and then finding the right therapist can feel overwhelming and at times, down right impossible. As a therapist, I can understand the courage and thoughtfulness in this choice. I have been working with people and walking with them on their journey to healing for over 15 years. During this time I have found meeting people where they are, listening to their goals, and building upon their strengths and life experience is the most important part of this work. Together, we can rediscover your strengths and carefully unpack what has been holding you back from your preferred self. A little about my journey: I am an Army combat veteran who chose to change careers after my deployment to Iraq in 2002. During my deployment, I noticed how deeply our experiences and what we bear witness to, changes us. I wanted to learn more about healing and recovery from the difficult things; to be a part of the healing for my fellow veterans and for others who have survived trauma. As humans, our bodies are not made for what we too often endure emotionally. What we understand cognitively and logically does not always connect with our body experience, this can unexpectedly show up as we encounter triggers as anxiety, tightness in our chest and throat, heavy arms or legs, etc. And, as humans, we do have what it takes to gain deeper understanding and fold these experiences into who we are, becoming stronger in the process. This work is meaningful and important. Modalities I use in treatment: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Counseling begins and ends with you as the client. As therapists, we have the honor of stepping into your journey and facilitating the healing and discovery of you and all that is possible. I would welcome the opportunity to work together. I wish you a good journey as you continue your path.
