I believe that people have an innate ability to heal and grow, and I strive to support you in recognizing your own resilience and capacity even in moments of pain or struggle. I am highly oriented to detail and pay close attention to your language (a skill I honed for many years in my prior career as a writer and academic researcher). I also bring great curiosity to the language of the body. I’m guided not only by my early training as a dancer, but also my core interest in the relationship between our spoken language, emotions and sensations. Blending aspects of talk therapy with mindfulness, grounding exercises, and other mind-body techniques, I work with clients to explore the complex ways our bodies both register and give expression to our inner lives and histories. My goal in our work is to support you in gaining both the self-understanding and the practical skills you need to manage your emotions and to reconnect with the parts of yourself that have gone dormant. Using an eclectic approach incorporating psychodynamic, humanistic, and somatic (or body-oriented) traditions of therapy, I will help you cultivate your awareness of the fullness of your lived experience, with the aim of achieving greater insight and joy.
