Introduction

Let Me Introduce Myself: Hello! My name is Jennifer Griffith. I am an ANCC board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with a Doctorate of Nursing Practice (DNP) from the University of Iowa, earned in 2015. My career journey began with a Bachelor's in Psychology and five years in social services. I then obtained a nursing degree and worked for six years in Neurology/Neurosurgery nursing before obtaining a doctoral degree as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. With 7 years of experience as a psychiatric nurse practitioner in community mental health centers, I have treated a wide range of mental health conditions. I believe in a holistic approach to mental health care that nurtures both mind and spirit. I am dedicated to providing a warm and supportive environment where you can find solace and healing. With a focus on compassion and personalized treatment plans, I am here to guide you on your journey to mental wellness. My Philosophy: I started my current practice because I believe psychiatric care can be so much more than the current medical model provides patients. Engaging in active listening and providing time during sessions for you to share your concerns is essential to cultivating true change. You are not just a diagnosis; you are a unique individual whose mental, physical, and social health all impact your overall well-being. Medication is only part of the solution. Together, we will address the stressors affecting your mental health and consider lifestyle changes, such as exercise and sleep habits, to improve your overall well-being. What To Expect: Your first session will last about an hour and will include a detailed assessment. If necessary, we can start medication during this session. Follow-up visits will be approximately 30 minutes and may involve medication adjustments, therapy, and discussions about lifestyle changes. The frequency of visits will be tailored to your individual needs. For more details on treatment focus areas and therapeutic approaches, please see Services (purple section) below. We will work together to find a safe, effective, and tolerable medication regimen tailored to your needs. For transparency, please note: • I do not treat adult ADHD or prescribe stimulant medications (e.g., Adderall) due to the restrictions with current telemedicine regulations. • I do not prescribe benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax) for anxiety due to the risks of dependency and long-term side effects with these medications. Why Choose Cultivate Joy Psychiatry? • Warm and Welcoming Environment: A safe space where you are valued and respected. • Collaborative Care: Working closely with you to co-create a path towards healing that aligns with your values and goals. • Expertise and Experience: Bringing to your care years of experience and ongoing training in the latest evidence-based practices. • Empowerment and Support: Equipping you with tools and resources to empower your journey towards better mental health. Fees and Insurance: I partner with Headway to manage billing and administrative tasks, allowing me to focus on your care. Headway handles payments and insurance to streamline the process for you. • Accepted Insurance: Aetna and Cigna. If you have a different health insurance provider, you may submit an itemized bill (Superbill) for reimbursement, provided by Headway. Sessions often qualify for Flexible Spending Account (FSA) funds. • Out-of-Pocket Fees: -New Patient Visit with Therapy (60 minutes): $250 -Established Patient Visit with Therapy (30 minutes): $165 In Case of Emergency: If you are experiencing a medical emergency or have suicidal or homicidal thoughts, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
