We all have stories to tell and experiences to share. While some moments can be joyful and fulfilling, others may be wrought with trauma, grief, or pain. A person's experiences can affect their worldview, mood, and relationships with others. As a licensed independent clinical social worker with a focus on mental health therapy, I have been serving clients aged 12 and older since 2016. My practice is rooted in a strong belief in the importance of understanding and respecting a person's beliefs, culture, strengths, and traditions in the therapeutic process. As a woman of color, I am experienced in working cross-culturally with diverse populations and religions and find great joy in connecting with people from all backgrounds and faiths. In my practice, I take an individualized approach to each client, tailoring my methods to meet their unique needs. I often utilize a blend of solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). Solution-focused therapy aims to identify and build on clients' strengths and resources, focusing on solutions instead of problems. CBT helps clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors to improve their well-being. In addition to these therapeutic approaches, I enjoy incorporating coping skills, mindfulness techniques, art therapy, and worksheets into our sessions. These tools can inspire forward movement, promote self-awareness, and facilitate personal growth. You can expect me to be authentic, caring, nonjudgemental, and direct in our therapeutic relationship. I believe in creating a safe and compassionate space where clients feel comfortable sharing their experiences and emotions. I also value the power of humor and often use it within our sessions to promote healing and connection. I'm here to support you as you navigate your own unique path of growth and self-improvement. I believe in your ability to overcome challenges and find resilience within yourself. Together, let's embrace the journey, celebrate progress, and embrace the possibility of positive change. If you are unsure about working with me, I offer a free 15-minute consultation to determine if we would be a good fit. When I'm not working, I enjoy scouting out new coffee shops around town, reading a good book, and playing catch with my two young boys. You can also find me out exploring local parks with my family, singing for any reason, and catching up with good friends.
