Were you taught that you have to earn your worthiness by fitting a certain mold? Or maybe you learned that you will crash and burn if you don’t constantly achieve, never settle, and be harder on yourself than you’d ever be on a friend? If those ideas aren’t working well for you anymore, I’m here to help. My philosophy is: If you’re not hurting anyone else and you feel good on the inside, you’re probably doing okay. But you’re probably here because you aren’t feeling good on the inside. My passion is to help clients of all genders, races, sexual orientations, ability levels, and relationship styles be more self-compassionate and believe that they are enough. What would be different in your life if you believed that you were enough – just as you are? As part of that mission – helping people believe in their own worthiness – I enjoy helping my clients to unpack shame, be more assertive, navigate challenging relationships (with others and themselves), and wade through the mess of the unknown. I am LGBT+ affirming (including all gender, sexual, and relationship minorities), informed by the feminist notion that all genders can do all things, and sensitive to cultural issues. I work from a strength-based perspective, which means that I help you uncover the hidden possibilities of the things that you already do well. More recently, I have developed a passion for supporting people in all stages of the transition to new parenthood. As a veteran of both IVF and a high-risk pregnancy, I bring compassion, empathy, and firsthand experience to supporting clients who are struggling with infertility, pregnancy overwhelm, the adjustment to new parenthood, and the identity questions that arise at all stages of this journey. I am the founder and owner of Through the Woods Therapy. I have been serving clients since 2007, and I am licensed in California as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #85677) and Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC #1631). My Master’s Degree in counseling is from California State University, Northridge, and my Bachelor’s Degree in psychology with a minor in theater is from Columbus State University. In my personal and professional life, I thrive on fun, play, and whimsy.
