As humans, we create stories in an attempt to understand our life experiences. What happens when our stories fail to make sense of what has happened, or what we feel? We may feel helpless, vulnerable, or afraid, knowing that all is not well, but unable to figure out why or what to do about it. My approach in counseling is to help clients safely explore the beliefs and ways of being that developed in response to these painful experiences. I draw from trauma-focused, relational, narrative, and mindfulness-based approaches, and prioritize creating a safe, compassionate, therapeutic relationship. Our work together will focus not on “fixing a problem” but identifying where disconnection from yourself and others is causing stress, disrupting your ability to feel a sense of peace or well-being. I believe the restoration of this connection to our authentic self facilitates healing, resilience, and growth. My work with both individuals and couples has included issues related to complex trauma, abuse, relational conflict, anxiety and depression, navigating life transitions and exploring intimacy and shared meaning in couples' relationships. Currently, there is a waitlist for new clients. If you would still like to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation, please use the email contact form above.
