My approach to psychotherapy is non-traditional yet rooted in evidence based practice. I believe that emotions are data; they can be uncomfortable but that does not mean they are good, bad, right, wrong, etc. They help us survive and they also help us grow and tune in to our innate capacity for healing! I am here to help you understand you and what you're struggling with. We clarify needs/wants and figure out how to satisfy them. Sometimes it's skills, self-compassion, connection, trust, confidence or simply to be heard and seen. You can expect to be challenged with genuine connection, trust, laughs and tears. Sessions are integrative. They include education on: the science of emotions, the mind-body connection and the significance of the language we use when thinking about/describing/framing our experiences. The interventions used in our sessions will highlight your unique strengths, clarify values and give you the information/skills you need to make intentful choices (while managing life's challenges). In addition to traditional psychotherapy I offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy in conjunction with Veda House Wellness, LLC. I have worked in human services/social work since graduating from the University at Albany in 2002. I returned to graduate school to work on social work policy and found my passion in clinical social work. I have a child, a partner, a business and two of the most ridiculous dogs on the planet. I am a voracious reader of all things related to this work and keep up to date on the most promising interventions in the field. I am thankful each day for work that allows me to develop meaningful connections with others and to walk with them for a period of time on their journey of healing and self discovery.
