Introduction

I provide individual therapy to adults, with a focus on perinatal mental health. Providing you with support as you navigate through the difficult moments of life is my goal. So often people are weighed down by their thoughts about themselves, others, and the world around them. I work collaboratively with my clients to determine the most effective approach to treatment. Using a combination of therapeutic techniques, I am able to help support you in identifying challenges, combating self-defeating beliefs, and uncovering and validating your truths and strengths. 🌿MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH🌿 You may have heard of the “baby blues,” which is changes in mood for a brief time as you adjust to motherhood. It is important to know that if these feelings are intense and last longer than the first two weeks after giving birth it is not the “baby blues.” up to 1 in 5 moms will experience a Perinatal Mood and/or Anxiety Disorder during pregnancy or the first year after childbirth, making these disorders the most common complication of childbirth. Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders include postpartum depression, anxiety, panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, and in rare cases bipolar disorder and psychosis. These disorders should not go untreated, unfortunately, moms often go unscreened and suffer in silence due to societal stigma, shame, fear, and lack of knowledge of maternal mental health resources available to them. It is important to know that you are not alone. Supporting women as they navigate life's challenges, breaking the myths of motherhood, and fighting the stigma surrounding maternal mental health is the goal. Through therapy, education, and collaborative care I focus my attention on encouraging total wellness during the beautiful but often challenging time of pregnancy, postpartum, and beyond. I believe that supporting mom's journey to wellness stimulates the wellness of the family as a whole. 🌿RESOURCES🌿 🌿Postpartum Support International has more information about PMADs and support that is available to you. please visit www.postpartum.net for more information. 🌿ABOUT ME🌿 I'm Ivy and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor certified in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International.
