Introduction

I am a highly experienced psychotherapist working with adult and older adolescent clients in Santa Fe and Albuquerque. I specialize in taking therapy into natures’ healing spaces or alternatively bringing healing to you through online therapy. I began my career in mental health 20 years ago as a social worker in Chicago and I've traveled the awe inspiring terrain of community mental health and private practice ever since. At my practice, I integrate a wide range of somatic, cognitive, transpersonal, mindfulness, and social justice informed therapies into my work. My practice includes specialization in insomnia disorder, neurodivergent identity celebration, accessible yoga therapy, chronic illness, and body focused work. I believe that simply giving the time, space, and energy to our health, through therapy, illuminates our own potentialities, leaving us with skills and peace to last a lifetime. Specialties: Counseling for Insomnia Disorder I am certified in CBT-I a treatment modality with better outcomes than sleep medication for Insomnia Disorder. CBT-I is the counseling treatment preferred by sleep doctors. Counseling for Medical Illness I provide counseling and guidance from a place of lived experience to those dealing with medical grief, chronic pain, caregiver burnout, new/chronic medical diagnosis (including Long Covid,) as well as other abrupt, challenging, or unwanted life changes. Neurodivergent Identity Work I am skilled and experienced at working with neurodivergent clients as we make strides in identity affirmation, understanding the grief of unaccommodated processing differences, and tools to thrive as neurodivergent people today. Body Focused Repetitive Behaviors I love working with BFRBs! I practice the Comprehensive Behavioral Model (COMB) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) for BFRBS including hair pulling and skin picking. Open Air Counseling Open Air Counseling is walking and talking together in nature. Clients report that accessing therapy on beautiful urban trails helps the process of self-discovery and change. Clients get to connect not only with me as a therapist, but also with the healing power of nature and movement. Wheelchair accessible trail sessions are also available and lovely. Clients can choose televideo and phone sessions as needed. Somatic Trauma Modalities I am EMDR, IFS, and somatically trained and have over 15 years of experience working with the nervous system and trauma. I especially love working with survivors of car accidents and natural disasters. Other Modalities and Expertise I incorporate transpersonal therapies, dream work, and yoga informed counseling into my work. I have been practicing Yoga for 28 years and I am a trained Yoga teacher and proponent of Accessible Yoga. (200 YTT.) I strive to offer these services in a non-appropriative, and authentic way. I incorporate mindfulness based stress and anxiety reduction (MBSR) into my work. I believe in providing culturally experienced, anti-racist, anti-ableist and inclusive therapy services. My work is LGBTQIA+ affirmative. I belong to the enby and queer community. I am thankful to live and work on Tiwa Indigenous land. My learning is a lifelong endeavor. Education I completed my undergraduate degree in Rhetoric and Asian Cultural Studies at The University of Illinois Urbana Champaign. At this time, I also studied Asian Cultural Studies at The University of Hanoi in Vietnam. I earned my Masters in clinical psychology from Southwestern College in Santa Fe where I studied Ecotherapy, Trauma, and Griefwork. I also attended the Masters program at Naropa University in Boulder where I studied Transpersonal Psychology, Wilderness Therapy, and Eastern Psychology. Continuing Education During my post graduate life I have continued my education through trainings and wisdom traditions I hold dear including Neurodivergent Affirming Support Work, Ecotherapy, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, Food Allergy Behavioral Health, Somatic Experiencing, Trauma and Grief EMDR, HRT, CBT-I, Oppression and Liberation Work, Coaching, Consulting, and Disability Justice. I'm currently studying Internal Family Systems. I have lived and worked in Mexico, Taiwan, Japan, and the U.S.
