Introduction

Whether you come on your own, with your partner, or as part of a family, we can help. Our experienced, dedicated therapists take a compassionate, supportive and focused approach. You will experience moving beyond what’s blocking you so you can take the steps required to create lasting changes. Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is used for Couples, Families and Individuals. Below are brief descriptions of how EFT works. You can also visit us at, https://csheehanjr.com/therapy-that-works-services, to learn more and to request a free consultation. EFT for Couple Counseling, Marriage Therapy, and EFFT for Family Therapy: EFT is an active therapy process that strengthens bonds and connection through the in-session experience of expressing and responding to underlying feelings that drive habitual ways of responding to disconnection. For some this means complaints, criticism and blaming. For others it means shutting-down and withdrawing. The attachment style tendencies end up creating negative patterns of relating that take over the actual discussions we’re trying to have about the real thing we’re fighting for: to feel the secure bond that is the foundation of a connected, joyful relationship. Our goal is to help couples/family members experience a clear understanding of these negative patterns standing in the way of you feeling more open, trusting, and able to successfully reach for comfort and connection. EFT for Individual Therapy (EFIT): We become ourselves in the context of relationship and experiences in relationship (especially the most meaningful relationships) form the way we make sense of ourselves and the people in our lives. The views of self and other can be outside our awareness and they have so much to do with how we show up in the world. In EFIT your therapist will help you discover and integrate emotional experience so it can serve as the useful guide it should. Experiencing emotion in this clear, valid way is the basis for navigating life in a less constricted, more flexible way that leads to greater emotional regulation, ease of connection and sense of freedom and clarity in decision making. Relationship Enhancement Programs: Our group offers attachment-based Hold Me Tight© workshops for couples, parents and teens and parents with their adult children. These programs are usually powerful change events for participants. Please visit, https://csheehanjr.com/workshops-for-couples.
