I approach counseling as a collaboration between the therapist and client: you are the expert on you, and I am the expert on psychology and mental health. Together, I am confident that we can work toward the relief you are seeking through counseling. I enjoy working with a wide range of people. With experience working in college counseling centers, academic medicine, and private practice, I am passionate about working with people from all walks of life. I have experience conducting intake assessments; emergency/triage assessments; facilitating groups; and treating clients with a wide range of mental health concerns. I have a particular interest in working with people in the health professions as well as their partners. Evidenced-based practice is important to me, as I believe using methods that have been shown to work provides the best outcomes, and quickest results, for clients. I take an integrative approach to counseling, in which I draw on evidenced-based practice, as appropriate, given each client’s unique concerns. While I incorporate different modalities into therapy, I predominately integrate aspects of cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and positive psychology to help clients reach their goals. Practicing as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I hold a Master of Arts in Psychology: Clinical Counseling from The Citadel Graduate College. I am a National Certified Counselor and adhere to the American Counseling Association’s Code of Ethics. I am passionate about my work as a therapist and regularly attend trainings to stay current with new research and to provide you with the best possible care.
