Introduction

With the proper guidance and nurturing, you have the innate ability to heal from stress and trauma. Are you feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck repeating the same unhelpful patterns, and have low self-esteem? I am a licensed clinical social worker in Virginia and Maryland, and I want to help you navigate a path toward increasing self-compassion and healing. You don’t have to be a survivor of an overtly traumatic event to experience trauma symptoms. An accumulation of “small-t” traumas, the non-life-threatening events that endangered our sense of self and left us feeling hopeless, can have a lasting impact on our mental health and keep us from authentically showing up in our lives. I have dedicated my career to working with adult survivors of trauma, domestic abuse, sexual assault, childhood trauma, stalking, harassment, and “small-t traumas.” Whether you are a survivor of a large-scale trauma or a lifetime of “small-t” traumas, there is hope. I believe in using evidence-based modalities such as Eye Movement Reprocessing and Desensitization (EMDR) along with Somatic Experiencing and mindfulness to help you reach your individual goals. My approach is collaborative, trauma-informed, and empowerment-based. You are the expert in you and your life’s story. I come to the therapeutic relationship from a culturally humble perspective and work to create a safe, welcoming, and affirming place for everyone regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender or gender non-conforming, socioeconomic status, religious affiliation, or other identity/background. I look forward to working with you to help increase your resiliency and enhance your post-traumatic growth. Email me to schedule a free 15-minute consultation to begin your healing journey.
