Introduction

DR. HAMILTON PEIRSOL resides in Savannah, Georgia and consults as a Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.) practicing professionally as a psychotherapist. He is also Board Certified as an Addictions Professional (C.A.P. in State of Florida) and internationally board certified as an Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (ICAADC in State of Georgia). He has provided individual, group and family psychotherapy for over 25-years, helping individuals and their families cope more effectively with unexpected life challenges by improving the quality of their life skills–socially, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Dr. Peirsol has successfully assisted countless individuals and families to acquire and practice the formidable skills necessary for managing their personal and professional life experiences more effectively. He received a broad range of business, psychological, and theological training and instruction from well-respected universities across the nation. He even went so far as the United Kingdom to study at the University of Oxford, Christ Church, to complete his Doctor of Psychology degree. Dr. Peirsol began his academic career in Greenville, South Carolina in 1978, completing his Bachelor of Science degree at Furman University. As an undergraduate, Dr. Peirsol served as a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Delta Sigma Pi and the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia fraternities while competing athletically at the collegiate level playing soccer. In 1986, he was accepted to Nova Southeastern University’s APA clinical program in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, where he completed his initial clinical training, a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology. While enthusiastically studying psychology, the forever-enterprising and active Peirsol opened, managed and successfully ran his own private practice in his second year of studies. In 1989, the would-be doctor on extended sabbatical followed his Master of Theological Studies training on a scholarship from Vanderbilt University’s Divinity School; ranked nationally among divinity schools together with Yale and Harvard, respectively. Continuing upon completion of his Vanderbilt coursework, Dr. Peirsol returned to Nova Southeastern University to complete his M.B.A., which he achieved in two short years, despite spending a significant portion of his time acting as the leading business development manager at a behavioral health NASDAQ corporation. In addition, while simultaneously becoming a successful entrepreneur in private practice, upon exiting Nova Southeastern, Dr. Peirsol made the decision to follow psychology to its apex by completing his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) following his studies at the University of Oxford (UK) on extension through the Graduate Theological Foundation (US). He is the author of two (2) books pending publication: Welcome to Camp: 101 Life Lessons from Psychotherapy and Let’s Get Better: Why Not Psychotherapy? He is currently completing research on a other books Psychotherapy from the Patient’s Point of View and Bipolar Depression: Its Elusive Ups & Debilitating Downs. In addition, Dr. Peirsol has developed the Peirsol Emotional Profile to speed up the therapeutic process and is currently conducting case studies in research and development in support of its efficacy.
