Halie Parmalee, LICSW is an individual psychotherapist and licensed clinical social worker with experience working with children, adolescents, and adults who have experienced trauma and violence. She is interested in and passionate about helping others facilitate their own healing from past traumatic experiences by rediscovering safety, finding connection and regaining a sense of agency over behavioral and emotional patterns that originated as survival strategies during the traumatic time. She received a Master’s in Social Work from Boston College where she gained experience working in both inpatient and outpatient mental health settings with children and families suffering with a number of mental health and psychiatric concerns. She has most recently served as the Mental Health and Advocacy Program Manager at the Children’s Advocacy Center of Suffolk County where she provided trauma-focused treatment to children, adolescents and their caregivers after a disclosure of sexual abuse, physical abuse or sexual exploitation as well as consultation and treatment to children struggling with problematic sexual behaviors and their caregivers using skills-based approaches. She is trained in CFTSI (Child and Family Traumatic Stress Intervention), PSB-CBT (Problematic Sexual Behavior Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), TF-CBT (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and TIST (Trauma-Informed Stabilization Treatment). She has experience utilizing CBT-based interventions, DBT skills, and mindfulness-based approaches to treat presenting symptoms and meet client needs. She utilizes a compassionate, strengths-based, integrative approach that draws on the individual’s skills and resilience while also fostering insight, understanding and curiosity within the internal world. She understands therapy as an act of courage and believes it takes immense bravery to look inward and seek transformation. Outside of work, Halie enjoys spending time with her family, friends and dog, Stanley as well as traveling, music, and reading.
