Introduction

The mind is powerful. It can write narratives that lead to feelings of hopelessness, worthlessness, fear, and questioning of where one belongs in this world. The mind is also a muscle that can be trained to rewrite narratives that highlight your strengths, increase self-esteem, self-love, hope, empowerment, and give meaning to life. In therapy, you are the expert and author of your life story. When you feel lost, control may be found where you are offered a space to share your story, process your role, and how you would like future pages to be written. Another perspective may also be offered with a focus on your personal strengths. Grace focuses on mental health versus mental illness through the use of a strengths-based approach. She has had the opportunity to work with many individuals and families experiencing severe and persistent mental health challenges, anxiety, depression, grief, and unexpected changes in life circumstances. Grace earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and her Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Fort Hays State University. Though native to Hutchinson, she feels a strong sense of community to Western Kansas, where her professional career took root. She values humor, integrity, individuality, authenticity and hopes to bring these to the therapeutic relationship.
