Introduction

In 2005, on a quest to challenge her own fears and anxieties, Ginger traveled to Thailand and found meaning. She lived with monks, worked in farming villages, and discovered her passion for helping. Ginger returned to the states to pursue her master’s in social work so she could be of service to those looking to improve their lives. It was important for Ginger to bring what she learned abroad back to those that may not have the option or desire to uproot everything and travel across the globe in order to make those changes happen. Ginger is the former Director of Behavioral Health at the Jewish Family Service of Metropolitan Detroit. She has specialized training in depression, anxiety, substance use, insomnia, and chronic pain. Ginger is a Certified Advanced Addiction and Drug Counselor, with training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy (RO-DBT) and is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia and Chronic Pain (CBT-I). Ginger also uses sensory integration treatment such as mindfulness, the Safe and Sound protocol, and vagus nerve stimulation to help clients feel more physically relaxed in session. Ginger’s creativity and holistic perspective inspired her to open Bright Spot Therapy, where she could execute her vision of using all parts to create the whole, for clients looking for a comprehensive approach to their mental health. Ginger’s compassion, honesty, wit, and insight are just a few of the characteristics that make her clients feel supported and accepted, wholeheartedly. Ginger most enjoys working with individuals struggling with overcontrol, difficulty sleeping, and have trouble allowing their true selves to be seen.
