I believe the relationship between the client and therapist is the most significant agent of change. As your therapist, I will strive to gain your trust by being authentic, nonjudgmental, transparent, and supportive. If there is something I’m not understanding or ‘getting’, I take the time to work with you on figuring out what I’m missing. I also challenge you when necessary and provide differing perspectives. I utilize several different therapeutic approaches including psychodynamic, relational, strengths based, cognitive behavioral, and acceptance and commitment therapy. These approaches can help you to better understand your past, how it informs your present, and how your thoughts and beliefs impact your feelings and relationships. We may also work together to help you develop internal coping skills to help manage uncomfortable or difficult feelings. Additionally, I work from a multicultural lens, meaning I recognize the importance of how one’s cultural background impacts the individual. Being a child of immigrant parents, I understand what it’s like living in between identities and cultures. We can work together to navigate where you belong and feel the most yourself.
