At Becoming + Belonging Therapy, PLLC, we believe healing happens in spaces where you are seen, safe, and honored for who you truly are. Our core values guide everything we do—from how we listen, to how we show up, to how we support your growth and healing. YOU MATTER. Your worth is not defined by your past or your mistakes. You matter—exactly as you are. We believe in the inherent dignity and humanity of every person. Your gender identity, sexual orientation, life experience, and background are not barriers to belonging—they are part of what makes you whole. You don’t have to earn your place here. SYSTEMS MATTER. We don’t live in a vacuum. Our lives are shaped by systems—healthcare, education, housing, employment—that either uphold equity or perpetuate harm. We name and challenge the ways these systems have historically marginalized BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, people of color) communities. Whether you benefit from privilege or experience oppression, your story is part of a larger structure we must all examine and transform. IDENTITY MATTERS. Your identity is sacred. Whether you are cisgender, transgender, non-binary, or somewhere in between or beyond, who you are deserves to be affirmed. We create space for your identity to be seen, named, and celebrated. RACE & CULTURE MATTER. Your culture, traditions, and worldview are deeply important. We honor the impact of racial and cultural identity—including the language you speak, the holidays you celebrate, and your views on family and community. These aren’t side notes; they’re central to who you are. NEURODIVERSITY MATTERS. Brains are beautifully diverse. Whether you’re neurodivergent, diagnosed or undiagnosed, thriving or struggling, your way of thinking, sensing, and processing the world is valid. We honor and adapt to neurological differences rather than pathologize them. I'm a therapist and social worker who holds space for people to reconnect with their story, reclaim their voice, and move toward healing. My work is shaped by both clinical training and lived experience—including parenting five children (one of whom passed away from Spinal Muscular Atrophy) and adopting through both domestic and international processes. These personal journeys ground my passion for trauma-informed, adoption-competent care. I earned my Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University with a focus on clinical practice and have worked in foster care, child protective services, and a shelter for women and children. I’ve also served for nearly a decade on the core team at Be the Bridge, a nonprofit committed to racial literacy and restorative justice. Growing up in Appalachia, I began to confront my own privilege and understand how identity, systems, and intergenerational trauma shape the way we move through the world. I provide individual therapy for adults in person and via telehealth, and work with teens, couples, and families in-person. My approach integrates cultural humility with clinical insight—centered on relationship, presence, and purpose. I am currently in training as a Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner (SEP). This body-based approach supports nervous system regulation, healing from trauma, and deeper mind-body awareness. I'm integrating SE principles into my work as I progress through the multi-year certification process. I live with my partner, our children, and two dogs, Gucci and Louie, who remind me daily of the beauty in rhythm, rest, and joy. "To be beautiful means to be yourself. You don’t need to be accepted by others. You need to accept yourself." — Thich Nhat Hanh
