Introduction

GAIL ROBERSON, LICENSED PROFESSIONAL COUNSELOR I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Missouri. I began as a case manager, serving at-risk families in 1985. During the 1990s, I specialized in forensic psychology and offered those services to court systems and mental health centers and was a speaker at workshops and seminars on treating high-risk individuals. Concurrently, I directed mental health programs and treated individuals whose lives had been touched by abuse, neglect, and crime. For the past decade, I’ve focused on private practice, emphasizing helping individuals achieve their desired life experience. It is my personal and professional belief that everyone has an inherent right to peace of mind, which to me, defines mental health. As a mental health professional, I consider it my role to guide my clients toward creating the life experience they desire. I teach sound mental health techniques and share “the world according to Gail” along the way. Now, I consider myself “retired,” but I’ve learned that “retirement” means different things to different people. For me, it means I do exactly what I please every single day. I offer Counseling through telehealth three days a week. I write two days a week. (I’m an author of children’s books.) And weekends are reserved for leisure, rest, connection with family, and just “being.” CLINICAL APPROACH Clinically, I am an interactive, solution-focused therapist. My therapeutic orientation can be called: Humanistic and Cognitive-Behavioral. This means that I take a holistic approach to each circumstance, and I believe everyone has an inherent right and ability to pursue the life experience they desire. Furthermore, since we know that feelings are directed by thoughts (cognition), becoming aware of and learning to manage one’s thought-life has much to do with the quality of one’s daily life experience. From these personal and professional perspectives, I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client's immediate needs and life vision. I help individuals, couples, and families build on their strengths to bring peace to their lives. Rather than "just listening," I offer options for changing what is no longer working. I listen without judgment, and I guide with state-of-the-art clinical accuracy. I generally offer a menu of ideas rather than absolute answers to help my clients personalize their journey. I teach therapeutic techniques to help my clients master their goals, and I believe with all the tools and techniques available in the mental health field today, individuals can learn to cope with issues that bring them to therapy. When ready for personal growth, they can envision and create their best life from where they are at any given moment. I will add here that I enjoy my work as a Counselor now as much as when I first began my career.... mostly because I've come to realize there are real answers to real-life problems, and it is my distinct pleasure to help my clients find the solutions that work for their lives. With a focus on facilitating my clients to create the life experience they desire; it is important to address and resolve any issues that stand in their way. I am especially recognized for working with my clients on issues such as: Building Self Esteem ADHD Management Organization: Time Management and Organization Skills LGBTQ+ Support Stress, Depression, and Anxiety Reduction Trauma and Abuse Recovery (Childhood Trauma, Sexual Abuse, Domestic Violence) Problem-Solving techniques Marriage/Relationship Resolution *Family Friendly Parenting Solutions and Extended/Blended Family Alignment Extended Family Issues Bereavement Healing wounds of infidelity Recovery from Victimization Life Transitions (physical; emotional; spiritual; career; geographical; etc) LGBTQ+ Issues Bereavement Life Transitions Above all, I focus my clients on "Self-Love and Acceptance". From this vantage point, all of life's best becomes possible. Couples can mend the hurts between them and the happiness they seek. Parents can grow more profound relationships with their children, and individuals can "Deliberately Create" their desired life. So log in, settle into your easy chair, and let me help you take that first life-changing step toward your desired life experience! Gail
