In 2003, while pursuing my Bachelor of Arts in Dance, I learned a great deal about trauma as people close to me were suffering in the aftermath of extensive abuse resulting in complex PTSD. These experiences led me to a position of advocacy and support for women with histories of sexual, spiritual, emotional, and physical trauma. Eventually, I came to a place of confronting my own trauma which in turn led me to pursue my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology at The Seattle School. For the last eight years I have had the privilege of practicing as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Washington state where I have been able to apply my combined 20 years of advocacy and clinical experience to support people in their healing journeys. Throughout the years as both an advocate and an LMHC, I am continually brought back to how profoundly strong, resilient, and adaptive humans are and the many ways, usually unconsciously, that we develop to navigate and cope within our uniquely formative personal, familial, and cultural contexts. Often these coping skills that served us so well in childhood, as we dealt with difficult experiences and/or trauma, do not work as well once we become adults and move into new contexts. It can be scary when coping strategies, that used to help, no longer provide the solace and comfort they once did. As overwhelming as it can be, I believe that we all have, within ourselves, the resources needed to heal, grow, and thrive. I trust that you have the innate strength, wisdom, kindness, and courage you need to make sense of your history, to process all parts of your story, and to direct your own life. If you are suffering from the effects of trauma and abuse, I can help. It would be my great honor to bring compassionate curiosity to our therapeutic work to support you in discovering, healing, and empowering every part of yourself as you reconnect with your mind, your body, and your soul.
