Welcome! I am Felicia and I have been married to my wonderful husband, Travis, since 2014 and we have two precious daughters. I have a strong desire to see individuals and couples not just survive but thrive in their lives and their relationships, even in a world filled with pain, suffering, and heartache. I believe God cares about and is close to the brokenhearted and He can heal even the greatest pain and trauma. I believe a life of freedom, joy, and love are possible for anyone willing to bravely face their fears, wounds, and sorrows. I believe the most healing comes as we live in connection and relationship to God and others. It would be my honor to come alongside you and walk with you through the peaks and valleys of life. I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Health Science from Stephen F. Austin State University and then went on to receive my Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have advanced training as an Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT) therapist and I am additionally trained to utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) in therapy. I am a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT) and the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). I counsel from a trauma informed, emotionally focused, attachment-based, and gospel integrated framework. VALUE BASED COUNSELING At Cox Christian Counseling PLLC, "value-neutral" counseling is not practiced because it is believed that all counseling is inherently influenced by the counselor's values and beliefs, whether those values and beliefs are acknowledged or not. As a Christian counselor, I approach each client with empathy, respect, and a deep commitment to their well-being, while also acknowledging that my views on human nature, healing, and purpose are rooted in a Christian worldview. Instead of presenting a false sense of neutrality, I prioritize transparency and openly share the perspective that informs my practice. At the same time, I am deeply committed to upholding the client’s autonomy, dignity, and goals. It is my hope that this transparency fosters trust, strengthens the therapeutic alliance, and empowers clients to make informed decisions about their counseling journey.
