Evia Kontolios is a compassionate and dedicated registered clinical social work intern (RCSWI) with a master’s degree in clinical social work from Fordham University. Deeply dedicated to supporting individuals on their journey through mental health, she uses a holistic, strength-based, person-centered, empathetic approach to psychotherapy with the goal of each client feeling heard, understood, and empowered to meet their goals. With a client-centered approach, you are in control of your healing journey and I am there to support you. As a therapist, my goal is to facilitate a safe space where you feel supported to explore your thoughts without the fear of being judged. Seeking therapy, while a very vulnerable step, is also an extremely powerful one. I am here to listen and gently guide you through your lifelong journey of mental wellbeing and the ebbs and flows that come with it. My therapeutic approach is drawn from various modalities, with the freedom to tailor treatment to your unique needs. I believe the therapeutic relationship is integral to the success of therapy. There is power in collaboration— together we will identify your current goals and develop a personalized approach to therapy that allows you to feel comfortable, safe, motivated and empowered. I value the insights of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and challenge negative thought patterns as well as learning mindfulness techniques to promote self-awareness and emotional regulation. I also implement elements of psychodynamic therapy to explore how past experiences shape current behaviors and relationships. Each therapy session is dedicated fully to your healing.
