Introduction

Everyone experiences stress, loss, hardship, and conflict within themselves or with others. And we can all relate to sometimes feeling stuck - aware that we want things to get better but we aren't sure where to begin, or we feel a bit confused about what is even wrong. Maybe you want to improve your relationships, or learn to better manage your stress. Maybe you have a sense that your past is negatively affecting you in the present. Maybe you wish you felt better about yourself and could reign in your inner critic. Or perhaps you are going through a major life transition and would like support navigating your new roles. I believe giving careful, nonjudgmental attention to our thoughts, feelings, and life experiences can bring about a clearer understanding of what we want to change, as well as how to make that happen. Together we will identify and help you transform patterns of thinking, acting, and relating to both yourself and/or others that are no longer working for you. I use a variety of modalities based on what seems best for the individual in front of me. I am warm and empathetic, and believe laughter should be a regular part of therapy. I am collaborative, regularly inviting clients to honestly share how my approach is working for them, as therapy should be consistently facilitating positive change you can see and feel. My approach is flexible, and regardless of which modality we use, I will always assume that your problems make sense, that you have understandable reasons for feeling the way you do, and that your coping styles arise from the basic need to protect oneself from pain. Our work together will involve finding new ways to take care of yourself that do not cause additional problems in your life.
