You feel exhausted. The days are filled with constant tension and anxiety. You find yourself numb or “space out” when you are alone. Is it difficult to stay present. You are busy, have a lot going on but do not feel satisfied. Perhaps you find yourself taking care of everyone else and constantly put your self on hold. Therapy is a place you can start to reconnect with your self and find relief from the patterns that leave you feeling unsatisfied in your life. Through awareness and practice you can bring authenticity in your relationships and find ease in your day to day life. My name is Erin and I provide somatic and mindfulness based psychotherapy for adults. My approach focuses on understanding and attuning to your nervous systems response to help find flexibility, relief and connection. Somatic psychotherapy is about listening to the communication of the whole body. While you may identify unhelpful patterns through observing your thoughts or behaviors, here we will invite observation and curiosity to your internal "felt sense" or sensory awareness. We do this by attuning to the physiological, biological or neurological systems through experiential exercises, observation and mindfully tracking. This helps to identify the ways you are responding to stress, ways your system has learned to cope and ways you can help release or move through stuck places. This is an active process that can increase your capacity to experience and deeply connect with self. I provide somatic based psychotherapy for anxiety, relationship issues, and early developmental or shock trauma. I incorporate my experience with psychodynamic, relational, mindfulness, or cognitive and behavioral approaches as needed. I have been in the field of psychology for over 10 years and am licensed as a psychotherapist in Washington and Florida. I practice Aikido, a martial arts, focused on connection, non-violence and self development, since 2002. You may find me out exploring new places, connecting with nature and love ones or enjoying the quiet moments of life.
