I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP) who views children and adolescents as whole people, not just test scores. I believe a person’s differences do not need to cause major limitations to their lives. Differently abled does not have to be a disability. One of my special interests is teaching students how to cope and work around their differences by utilizing technology. Another special interest is teaching parents and students strategies to help cope with differences. A parent is their child’s best advocate! After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology from IUPUI (Purdue School of Science) in 2001, I earned my graduate degrees (M.A., and Ed.S.) in School Psychology from Ball State University. I also have a Director in Exceptional Needs Licensure from Indiana University, an Independent Practice Endorsement (IPE) through the Indiana Association of School Psychologists (IASP) and a Certificate in Autism from The Zur Institute. Since 2005, I have worked within the public school system. This experience allows me to help families navigate school processes related to IEPs and 504 plans. Since 2018, I have been with Beacon Psychology Services in a part time capacity. Starting in 2019, I have also provided evaluation services in residential, charter and private schools. One of my roles at Beacon is identifying learning strengths and needs by conducting evaluations. During these evaluations, I strive to make the situation relaxed and comfortable while still obtaining valuable information about how the child learns. I have extensive experience with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and learning disabilities. I have a particular interest in helping families adapt to the social and emotional needs of young children. My best teachers have been the families I have served, as well as my own children. Each child is unique and might need something different than expected. My goal for working with families is to help families learn about their child’s unique strengths and differences. When working with me, we will work together and use evaluation information to find strategies for helping your family.
