My name is Emily Althoff, I’m a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor and a Licensed Master’s Addiction Counselor. I provide therapy to people who are dealing with painful relationships whether it be a significant other, parent, child, or other family member. I have spent my career helping individuals, couples and families navigate issues that create complicated relationships such as mental health conditions, family conflict, substance abuse, or communication blocks. But enough about my professional qualifications. I am a family-driven therapist because of my own personal experiences with mental illness/substance use. I was drawn to this field after watching my mom struggle and ultimately pass away as a result of her mental health and struggles with addiction. I recognize that these struggles do not discriminate, my mom was a highly intelligent woman who was also very successful in her field. I am also a mother of two young children and understand the stress of trying to balance and excel in multiple roles. Bottom line is that it is normal to have ups and downs in life, no matter who you are or where you come from and I would be honored to help you navigate them.
