Introduction

In 1986 I moved to Texas as a "Military Brat" and experienced many cultures traveling across the world, while understanding the importance of the family structure. In Middle School I volunteered my free time working with special needs students. Although it was out of character for boys to take parenting and early childhood profession; I excelled and was one of the highest performing students in the program. In 1994 I began working at Laurel Ridge Hospital as a mental health technician. I was known for establishing and maintaining therapeutic relationships with the patients when at times their therapist could not. This is when a co-worker during a team meeting approached me and suggested that I go to school to sharpen my skills in order to use my "gift". I did not like the idea at first; however, after the encouragement continued, I decided to go to school with the assumption and determination that I could impact the world by impacting lives in a positive way. During my clinical journey I have had the pleasure of working with children, adolescents, adults, and older adults in many different settings. Whether its recent hospitalization in a psychiatric facility, dialysis due to ESRD, substance abuse, trauma, or family conflict; there is a possible to obtain peace after the storm! Let me use my gift so you or your family member can be a gift to those around them.
