Hello, Perspective Client. I am Ellie. I am so delighted that you are here reading this bio. I won’t start with a list of my qualifications or background. You can scroll to the end of this for that stuff. I’d rather start by connecting with you on a different note. Today I came across something I wrote at the height of the pandemic. My first thought was “wow, that’s pretty much exactly how I approach therapy.” That being the case, and you being a perspective therapy client, I think it’s fair to let you in on it. April 8th, 2020 “What is being revealed to you about yourself? Extraordinary circumstances can work like a plow, unearthing what was previously buried underneath the surface. Present and contributing, yet unobserved. When these hidden parts of us are revealed we must resist the urge to quickly rebury the things we don’t wish to acknowledge. It can be uncomfortable to sit with them in the fresh dirt of our inner topography. But we can learn so much by applying disciplined curiosity. We resist forcing conclusions. When we take our time gently turning things over, we see them in a new light.” For some of you, you are not in so-called extraordinary circumstances. Perhaps you are in very, very ordinary circumstances. But there are still things that need to be unearthed in your heart and mind, or relationship. I am here for that. Or perhaps you are in extraordinary circumstances and you just need someone to ride the wave with you. I’m here for that too. What I can do for you as a therapist is enter in. I can make space, get curious with you, and approach things like a compassionate scientist. I will respect the reality that you are the expert on you, I’m just a professional with evidence based tools, empathy, humor, and a fair bit of training.
