My contact with clients starts by providing a safe, secure environment in which the client can slowly open themselves to the therapeutic process. I have special training in attachment issues/injuries but also blend cognitive behavioral therapy, systems therapy, solution focused therapy and neuroscience modalities into treatment as needed. I approach counseling using the therapeutic relationship as the foundation for exploring areas of hurt and trauma. I hold a fundamental belief that humans have the ability to heal and can become stronger in the broken places, that the human spirit is resilient and can be celebrated along the path of growth and healing. Prior to a career in counseling I spent 20+ years working with horses. This has provided insight into the power of body language and energetic communication. I have specialized training in attachment issues/injuries and that together with a personal passion for neuroscience provides a blend of professionalism and life experience that will be available to my clients. I have an MA in Counseling from the CACREP accredited master's degree program at Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. My continuing education has been heaviliy focused on trauma healing (EMDR), emotion focused therapy for couples (EFT) and accelerated experiential dynamic pschotherapy (AEDP).
