Introduction

Hello! My name is Eliza Alvarez McBride (she/her.) I am a first-generation Filipino-American therapist in the Portland-Metro Area. I specifically serve clients who are women, first and second generation immigrants and refugees, and survivors of childhood trauma and domestic violence. My goal as a therapist is to help you feel heard, to facilitate a space for you to process thoughts, emotions, and life experiences, and to suggest coping skills that you can practice in everyday life. My counseling style is person-centered, collaborative, and culturally-responsive. I know that mental health issues are often impacted by factors such as a person's identity and the environments they navigate. I acknowledge and integrate these factors in the therapy process.  My educational background includes a master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and certificate in Trauma-Informed Services completed in 2018 from Portland State University. I also hold a bachelor's in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies. I have additional training in Emotion-Focused Therapy and EMDR. Currently, I'm licensed to provide counseling in Oregon and Washington. Please contact me to schedule a free phone consultation to see if we're a good fit, or if I have any referrals who may be a better fit for you. Please note that I do not provide ESA letters, medical-legal evaluations or reports, or court-related services. At this time, I'm working on getting paneled with a few insurance companies. Until then, if your insurance accepts out-of-network providers, I can provide a superbill with a diagnosis code that you can process with your insurance company (heads up: a diagnosis will stay on your medical record and may be regarded as a pre-existing condition.) Please contact me if you have any questions!
