Introduction

Hello! My name is Eliza Alvarez McBride (she/her.) I am a first-generation Filipina-American mental health counselor in the Portland-Metro Area. I specifically serve clients who identify as BIPOC, women and femmes of color, first and second generation immigrants and refugees, and survivors of childhood trauma and domestic violence. I completed my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Portland State University and completed all requirements to become a nationally certified counselor (NCC) in 2018. Prior to my graduate degree, I completed a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Women's Studies. Before starting private practice, I worked in non-profit and community mental health settings. My goal as a mental health counselor is to help you feel heard, to hold a space for you to process thoughts, emotions, and life experiences, and to suggest coping skills that you can practice in every day life. My counseling style is person-centered, collaborative and culturally aware. I know that mental health issues are often impacted by factors such as a person's identity and the systems they navigate. I acknowledge and integrate these factors in the therapy process.  I am licensed to provide counseling for individuals in Oregon and Washington. Please contact me to schedule a free phone consultation to see if we're a good fit, or if I have any referrals who may be a better fit for you. *At this time, I currently have limited session spots open for mornings only. Please use the contact form link to ask about any possible updates about scheduling.*
