Introduction

Are you wanting to create change in your relationships? Do you want to feel a difference in the way that you relate to yourself? Dr. Yvonne is a first-generation Afro-Latina, fluent in Spanish who is compassionate and tender while promoting such goals. Using a strength-based model and somatic approaches, Dr. Yvonne helps unleash the ability that is often concealed under a person’s symptomology of various disorders or difficulties. She recognizes that when one person in a family system is struggling significantly, the whole family struggles. Dr. Yvonne incorporates an Emotion-Focused Family therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, EMDR, or parts work. With the belief in the deep and unwavering connection of the healing power of families or the significant other, she weaves in the essence of EFFT/EFT is to afford caregivers or loved ones a significant role in their loved one’s mental health and well-being. Her role is to help empower and support caregivers in mastering the skills, tasks, and feelings involved in creating growth and progression in each of the members of the family. Within relationships and couples, Dr. Yvonne creates a safe nurturing space so that those difficult conversations can be had and allow for the healing and closeness to begin. If a family member or loved one is unavailable to process the experiences with the individual, Dr. Yvonne assists to create corrective emotional experiences in the holding space of individual therapy to help shape safety and security with others and within. Individuals battling eating disorders, those in need of relationship repair, and persons with special or unique needs (health issues, developmental disorders, neurodiversity, etc.) find these approaches incredibly beneficial. Yvonne also is an American Associate of Christian Counselors so if your faith is an aspect that you would like to incorporate for your transformative recovery, she is prepared to come alongside you with tools to help in deepening that attachment and find healing through that essential relationship. Yvonne has an EMS and healthcare background and understands that nurses, EMS personnel, etc. are continuously involved in crisis situations and other types of emergencies. Professional caregivers are often taxed experiencing compassion fatigue and burnout at higher rates than most professions. She also has been an administrator to Residential Facilities for more than 25 years, and so Dr. Yvonne knows the importance of the professional caregivers and practitioners to be well-supported for their personal, professional, and facility or practice's success and that the individuals under their care are better for it. Her hope is to enhance team cohesiveness and collaboration and ultimately performance in the workplace and help you rediscover the love and passion you once had when entering your career. Her love for working with couples and families is a desire to improve their quality of life in hopes of changing the trajectory of communities as a whole.
