Greetings! My name is Dr. Veronica Orozco (she/her/ella). I am a Mexicana/Xicana, daughter of immigrants, licensed psychologist, and mama. I was born in Southern California and spent my childhood in Michoacan, Mexico. My experiences as a first generation elementary school student and a bilingual and bicultural mujer have uniquely positioned me to create a soft place to land for womxn of color - a space for relational safety, empowerment, healing, and joy. Educationally, I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from The Ohio State University (APA Accredited) in 2007. My dissertation focused on the academic resilience of Latina/o university students. I completed my doctoral internship at Counseling and Psychological Services at California State University Long Beach and post-doctoral fellowship at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. For the past 10+ years, I’ve been a Senior Licensed Psychologist at Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of California, Berkeley. I provide culturally-informed counseling to marginalized and BIPOC (Black/Indigenous/People of Color) students. I work from a strengths-based, multicultural, and relational approach to help individuals overcome mental health challenges like anxiety and depression, navigate transitions, improve relationships, manage stress, and facilitate healing and a kinder, more compassionate relationship with themselves. I am an EMDR training therapist - completed training with Rick Levinson, LCSW.
