Introduction

I am a CBT therapist and treat the following issues: - Anxiety disorders - Mood disorders (e.g., major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder) -Trauma-related disorders (e.g., PTSD) - Substance abuse and other addictive behaviors - Relationship issues - Low self-esteem - Family conflict - Work stress - Communication issues - Behavioral issues (e.g., impulsivity, anger/aggressiveness) About Me Finding the right therapist can be overwhelming. My aim is to take the stress out of this process. I pride myself on forming meaningful therapeutic relationships with my clients and creating a relaxed environment in which they feel comfortable pursuing their respective goals. Though I approach my clients’ issues with the utmost seriousness, my style is quite informal. If therapy is meant to bring out the best in people, then we should laugh a little along the way. To help clients reach their goals, I pull from a variety of therapeutic modalities, but I am foremost a practitioner of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This approach involves helping clients better appreciate how changes in thinking, sometimes even small ones, can help them gain control in important aspects of their lives. I obtained my PhD in clinical psychology from the University of North Carolina Wilmington and conducted my pre- and post-doctoral training with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction. I've worked in prisons, schools, and community mental health, and I currently sit on several state-wide psychological committees. Through these collective experiences, there isn’t much I haven’t seen. Still, I recognize that there’s always more to learn, and I remain eager to do so with new clients! If you think I may be a good fit for your therapeutic needs, please feel free to request a free 15-minute consult. The best way to confirm fit tends to be by chatting a bit and getting to know one another. I look forward to meeting you and answering any questions you might have!
