Introduction

I grew up in Nashville, TN and attended college at Belmont University. I then went on to receive a Master of Divinity at Wake Forest Divinity School and a Doctor of Ministry from McAfee School of Theology at Mercer University. I was a Christian clergyperson for over twenty years and made a midlife career change to pursue a profession as a psychotherapist. I graduated from Belmont University with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and am pursuing licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor. In addition to serving counseling clients, I am an adjunct professor in the School of Theology and Christian Ministry at Belmont. I am a Board-Certified Life and Personal Coach through the Center for Credentialing and Education and was trained through the Center for Congregational Health in collaboration with Wake Forest University. I also serve couples as a certified premarital counselor through Prepare/Enrich. I am skilled in working with individuals, couples, families, and groups of all ages. I specialize in individuals going through life transitions including career changes, educational pursuits, relationship issues, grief and loss, and retirement. I mostly use a psychodynamic approach to help clients build awareness of childhood patterns and gain insight into present-day functioning. I also utilize ACT principles to help clients build resilience and flexibility. My main areas of interest include depression, anxiety, religious trauma, career counseling, mindfulness, and premarital and couples counseling.
