Introduction

Clients come to me with interest in healing relationship issues and traumatic histories. They come to me with complaints about poor communication (not feeling heard, frequent arguing, parenting differences, etc.), of not connecting enough (emotionally, sexually, etc.), financial struggles, extended family issues, infidelity (physical or emotional), stress, and trauma. I treat individuals who have experienced trauma at any point in life and I will treat them individually or in conjoint sessions with supportive partners, family members, or friends. I see clients who are trying to learn whether it's time to divorce or if there's hope for a better relationship together. I see families that are trying to get along better and manage life transitions. I work with parents whose children are struggling with behavior, mood, or anxiety issues for any number of reasons. I also see individuals who are overcoming family of origin issues, and relationship stress, among other issues. Overall, I work with individuals and relationships that are struggling, from intimate partners, parent-child relationships, families, to friends, and work relationships. Remember, to see me, you're not signing up for a certain number of sessions. In fact, single sessions may be all you need and all you're looking for. You may want to schedule regular weekly or bi-weekly appointments or you may prefer to come in only as needed. I am open to your agenda, not just mine. All my clients easily learn about the neuroscience of the brain, mind, and body so each one is clear about how to work WITH, not AGAINST, theirs and other's brains! I don't see any of my clients as low functioning. I will help you see why all behavior is normal within the context of your life, and how to focus only on making it become more effective. I have been in private practice for 10 years. My husband and I recently became empty nesters and decided to travel the US in our RV while we're still young enough to do it. Because of this change I am moving my practice online beginning in November of 2021. Feel free to ask about our journey or how this can affect your therapy or coaching. There is great research demonstrating that online therapy is as effective, and sometimes more effective, that in person therapy. Working with me you will get a trustworthy, confidential, compassionate, experienced, unbiased, educated, and science-minded Doctor of Psychology Candidate and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) trained in Neuropsychotherapy and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB) who uses a direct, but considerate approach. I'm also certified in Rapid Resolution Therapy (RRT) and Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM). Both are forms of rapid memory reconsolidation that painlessly erase the emotion attached to a memory, allowing clients to quickly process trauma and stress without emotionally reliving the event(s). I also offer supervision for clinicians through a systems, Neuropsychotherapy, and Interpersonal Neurobiology lens. I specialize in all relationships (couples, dating, parenting, and divorce, including prevention, recovery, & preparation, and blending healthy families), trauma, stress, anxiety including PTSD recovery, and many other issues. I draw on my personal and professional experiences to help you learn how to draw on yours and to help you find the happiness and success you're seeking in life. I use humor, neuroscience, lightheartedness, calm, and methodically challenging approaches to educate you about your options and help you fine tune your goals, but you always decide how far you're willing to go to improve your life and your relationships. I don't write prescriptions for medication, perfection, or moon chanting (haha, I just googled that and it's a real thing!). However, I do encourage, respectfully challenge, and teach (if necessary) accountability, listening, acceptance, self-challenge, and even mind and brain development (neuropsychotherapy, interpersonal neurobiology). I may suggest that you golf, spa, hunt, or club with each other as a couple if those are things you would or used to like doing together (please note: the last sentence said "club WITH each other"--NOT "club each other."). I always include parents in child therapy and I advocate for both parents and children. I am unbiased, woman-friendly, man-friendly, and child-friendly so do not worry about me judging you. We are all human and I help all people learn to accept humanness in themselves and others. I jest throughout this page, but I am very dedicated to effective care! So, on a serious note, the first step to success in therapy comes in understanding that asking for help shows strength, not weakness. I approach all my clients from an interpersonal neurobiological perspective and a neuropsychotherapeutic framework, not a pathological approach. This means I rarely give a "diagnosis" because rarely is it needed or accurate according to what we now know about the neuroscience of emotion, thoughts, and behavior.
