WWW.LUCEROWELLBEING.COM Throughout the years we often become complacent with how we manage our mental health, so when a difficult time presents itself, we’ve forgotten or struggled to find the “right” strategy; Dr. Robles works with patients to find strategies that work. When it comes to mental health, there is rarely a quick and easy fix. Rather than putting a band-aid over the insult, Dr. Robles will teach skills necessary to manage the present struggle and those that will come. She works to draw out hidden potential. Luz Robles, PsyD received a Bachelor of the Arts in Education from CSU, Fresno, a Masters of Social Work from CSU, Long Beach, and both a Masters in Psychology and a Doctorate degree in Psychology from Alliant International University. She is licensed in Nevada and California. Luz was born in Mexico and at age 5 immigrated to a small town in California where she was raised. She struggled with acculturation but overcame and challenged herself to better understand it. As a result, she has focused much of her research on topics related to minorities and their challenges. Her initial passion to help others began in the field of education. During her final student-teacher experience she realized that she needed more than to help just the children. She pivoted her career and furthered her education by earning a Master’s degree in Social Work. As a social worker, she not only provided the traditional resource linking and adjunct services but was able to develop her love for therapy. She went on to obtain a second Master’s and a Doctorate degree in Psychology and has now been in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. She was drawn to the field by the desire to help. In her youth, she was driven to guide and help others and as an adult, she has developed this passion and has found several avenues that have helped many. Dr. Robles describes herself as forward, honest, caring, encouraging, hopeful, and hard working. She loves the “aha” moment in the eyes of those she works with. She enjoys the challenge of figuring out the puzzle, that is our struggles, and working toward their solution. She enjoys it when new skills learned in sessions are able to be applied to life struggles. From time to time Dr. Robles interweaves a variety of therapeutic modalities where appropriate. She does not use a cookie-cutter approach but rather lets the client drive their therapy believing that they are their own expert. When she has time to herself, she enjoys cooking, gardening, exercising, crafting, and spending time with her family. These things put her mind at ease and help her come down after a particularly stressful day.
