Naturopathic Medicine, a branch of Complementary or Alternative Medicine (CAM), aims to uncover the underlying causes of illness. It provides personalized care designed to eliminate barriers to the body's natural healing processes and to address imbalances in an individual's health. My counseling practice is grounded in Gestalt and TF-CBT principles, emphasizing trauma-informed care. Throughout the treatment process, we will address unresolved emotional conflicts, aiming to enhance your comfort with and understanding of how these conflicts can affect your emotions, sensations and behaviors. I work with clients who face unresolved physical and mental health issues, interpersonal or family relationship conflicts, and traumatic life events. In our initial sessions, we focus on building therapeutic trust and identifying the historical roots of their current symptoms. Most clients experience quick initial symptom relief, along with a deeper understanding and lasting resolution of their issues. Currently accepting all forms of major credit/debit cards, cash, and check. **Now accepting Blue Cross/ Blue Shield of Illinois - PPO plans for counseling appointments. I also accept HSA/FSA for naturopathic healthcare and counseling services. If there is a concern regarding payment/fees, I am able to work with patients to create a payment plan. **Persons interested in our Veteran, Active-Duty military, Reservist and/or First Responder discount (20% on all cash-based services) should inquire during your visit/consultation. *Naturopathic Medicine Intake and Psychological Diagnostic Evaluation appointments are scheduled for 90 minutes to account for comprehensive assessment and review of medical/psychiatric history, which entail review of pertinent medications, supplements, diet plans, laboratory and/or imaging results. Whatever health-related documents you bring in, I will review them and discuss the findings with you. *All other appointments, to include individualized Reiki sessions, are scheduled at 60 minutes. Changes to this scheduling will be based upon discussion with the provider. Dietary and botanical supplementation available onsite as well as through the online dispensary Fullscript: https://us.fullscript.com/welcome/jlabedz My journey: * I started my journey into healthcare in the early 2000s with a BS in Clinical Laboratory Science from Rush University, followed by a tour in the United States Navy - in the military is where I found my passion for helping people and cut my teeth in counseling. * Following my military service, I pursued an MA in Counseling Psychology at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, focusing on Trauma Assessment and Treatment. Over the ensuing decade, my career was largely centered in the outpatient community sector, culminating in my current private practice. My professional experience encompasses therapy with individuals, couples, and families. * Discovering that numerous clients I served were also battling physical health issues and co-morbid conditions, I decided to resign from my role as Clinical Director at a local community outpatient mental health center. This decision was made to pursue a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine (ND) degree from the National University of Health Sciences in Lombard, IL.
