As a therapist, my goal is to help you uncover your true potential and lead a life that is worth celebrating. While we can't change difficult situations of the past, we can work together to better understand and resolve challenges in your life. By applying complementary therapy approaches and techniques, we will unearth long-standing behavior patterns or negative perceptions that may be holding you back from experiencing a more fulfilling and meaningful life. In my practice, I primarily specialize in the treatment of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and anxiety related disorders. Treatment for these include Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Inference-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other Mindfulness based interventions. ERP is supported by research as the most effective treatment for OCD and other related disorders. This treatment helps people face thoughts and fears triggered by OCD or anxiety to resist compulsive and avoidant behaviors which often become crippling and may have detrimental affects on all areas of a person's life. I also offer an integrated movement approach to help individuals, couples, and families gain insight and process challenges in communication and coping, as well as learn new and congruent ways to communicate and move through stressors. If you're looking for extra support and guidance through a challenging situation or you're just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals. With gratitude, Dr. Heather Almeida
