I have been a mental health counselor for twenty-five years. I have a doctorate in Counseling Psychology and I am licensed in New York State as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC). I work with people who experience mild and severe mental health illnesses. This includes but is not limited to, adjustment disorders, depression disorders, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, substance abuse disorders, stress management, and anger management issues. I became a counselor because I have a passion for people and the human condition. I have always had a sensitivity to people who were hurting, treated with disregard, or unfairly. I am a compassionate person and this comes across during the counseling process. Moreover, I encourage individuals to focus on their strengths while challenging them to push past their fears. I think that it is important to be sincere, honest, empathetic, and nonjudgmental so that a trusting therapeutic relationship can be established. My goal as a counselor is to guide and support people as they move through the healing process.
